Skip to main contentThe Skalven theme allows you to fully customize the cover area of your homepage. This section explains how to edit the Cover Title, Cover Description, and Cover Image, and what happens when these fields are left empty.
1. How to Set the Cover Title & Description
- Go to your Ghost Admin panel.
- Navigate to Design & branding and click the Customize button.
- In the customization window, open the Theme tab.
- Under the Homepage, you will find two fields:
- Cover title
- Cover description
- Enter your custom text or HTML inside these fields.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
These two fields control the main text displayed in the cover area of your homepage.
2. How to Set the Cover Image
- In the same Theme tab, locate the Cover image field.
- Click Upload image and choose a image for your cover.
- Save the changes to update your homepage layout.
3. What Happens If You Don’t Set a Custom Cover?
If you do not provide a custom Cover Title, Cover Description, or Cover Image, Skalven automatically falls back to your site’s default information:
- Cover title → defaults to Site title
- Cover description → defaults to Site description
- Cover image → defaults to Publication cover image (set in Design & branding → Brand tab)
This ensures that your cover section is never empty and always displays meaningful information.

- You can set a custom cover title, description, and image from Design & branding → Customize → Theme tab.
- If left empty, Skalven intelligently uses your site’s existing title, description, and publication cover.
